Semuliki National Park is a lush tropical rainforest situated in western Uganda along the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is part of the Albertine Rift, a globally recognized biodiversity hotspot, and is famous for its rich flora and fauna, including rare mammals, primates, and hundreds of bird species.
Semuliki is home to elephants, forest buffalo, leopards, and chimpanzees, along with numerous smaller mammals, reptiles, and insects. Birdwatchers will find the park particularly rewarding, with over 450 recorded species, including hornbills, turacos, and forest eagles. Visitors can enjoy guided forest walks, nature hikes to the Semuliki hot springs, and boat trips along the Semuliki River. Its dense forests, swampy wetlands, and scenic river valleys create an authentic rainforest experience, making it ideal for travelers interested in eco-tourism, wildlife photography, and immersion in tropical landscapes.
