The Maasai Mara

Maasai Mara National Reserve is Kenya’s most famous safari destination and one of the most spectacular wildlife reserves in Africa. Located in southwestern Kenya along the border with Tanzania, the Mara is known for its vast open savannahs, dramatic wildlife encounters, and incredible photographic landscapes.

The reserve forms part of the larger Serengeti ecosystem and is world-renowned for the Great Wildebeest Migration. Every year between July and October, millions of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles cross into the Mara from Serengeti National Park, creating one of the most dramatic wildlife spectacles on earth, especially during the thrilling river crossings. The Maasai Mara is also one of the best places in Africa to see the Big Five — lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo, and rhino — along with cheetahs, giraffes, hyenas, and hundreds of bird species. Game drives across the golden plains often bring visitors close to predators hunting, elephants roaming freely, and large herds of grazing animals.

In addition to wildlife, visitors can experience the culture of the local Maasai people, whose traditions and lifestyle remain deeply connected to the land.

With its abundant wildlife, iconic landscapes, and unforgettable safari moments, the Maasai Mara offers one of the most authentic and exciting safari experiences in Africa.
